About Us

We’re a fun family who love to read, love book shops and love life! Find out more about us on this page.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help kids discover their next favourite book by sharing honest, exciting book reviews written by children, for children. We believe kids are some of the best book experts around! When children share what they loved (or didn’t love) about a story, they help other kids choose books with confidence. We also support and celebrate local bookshops — because they are magical places full of stories waiting to be discovered. We want every child reviewer to feel proud knowing their words help another reader find a book they’ll treasure.

Our Values

We aim for a world where children inspire each other to read more, explore new ideas, and fall in love with books. We see a growing community of young reviewers who feel confident sharing their voices, knowing their opinions matter. We dream of families visiting their local bookshops with a review in hand, excited to find a story recommended by another child.

Most of all, we want kids everywhere to feel proud that they helped someone else discover their next great adventure.

Page

Hey guys I’m Page and I’m nine years old. Okay, Page isn’t my real name but I really am a page turner!  I want to be part of this website because I want to encourage young people to read. I would love to help young children find books that they love. I like reading fantasy mystery , and adventure books. My top five books for you are :

  1. Cat Warriors: Into the Wild – Erin Hunter.

  2. The Silver Road – Sinead O’Hart.

  3. Vanya and the Wild Hunt – Sangu Mandanna.

  4. Impossible Creatures – Katherine Rundell.

  5. Skandar and the Unicorn Thief – A. F. Steadman.

These books all have magic and fantasy included, and of course a one of a kind front cover ,but remember to never judge a book by what it looks like, all of it should be about the story. I’m exited to help others to find their own spirit of reading, just like I have found mine.

Penny

Hi, my name is  Penny and I am 9 years old. I love reading. In my spare time I like to sing, dance, play with my dog and do gymnastics. I would like to inspire people around the world to read the books they love.

I’m like Page in lots of ways, and we both love books, although I’m into Jacqueline Wilson and page is super into Erin Hunter’s  books. Here are some book I like:

  1. The Seaside Sleepover – Jacqueline Wilson.
  2. The Last Journey – Stacy Gregg.
  3. The Worlds Worst Children 2 – David Walliams.
  4. The best Sleepover in the world – Jacqueline Wilson.
  5. The Worst Witch – Jill Murphy.

Mom

Hi! I’m Page and Penny’s Mum. I’m a lover of science fiction and fantasy, and have worked hard to encourage my two little ones to find their love of reading. Although they read on their own, I still read aloud to them on the weekends and I am wowed by the quality of middle grade literature out there right now!

I adore physical books (I quit amazon/Kindle last year and have not had much luck with Libby UK unfortunately) and cannot resist the pull of any independent bookshop. My family has gotten used to occasional unscheduled stops!

I love that my two are finding different directions in their book choices. “Page” is drawn to magic and adventure, while “Penny” has gone into the realist literary fiction of Jacqueline Wilson. I’ll be putting some notes at the bottom of their reviews from my perspective.

Dad

Okay guys I’ll level with you – I’m not a book guy but I’m trying. I read my first full book in over 22 years in January… it was over 300 pages, which is a big deal for me!

My main focus will be running the website and dealing with the boring ‘adult’ stuff like design and uploading content. On the up side that means I get to see all your fantastic reviews!

I love that Page and Penny love reading so much. It helps them learn about all subjects more quickly as well as keeping them away from screens for a couple of hours a day! The Book Bug Club will also give them a way to share their literary voices with fellow book lovers.
